This protected forest reserve has been left untouched by forestry operations for more than 40 years. No trees are felled, no fallen trunks are removed—nature is allowed to follow its own timeless cycle of life, decay and renewal.

A Living Cathedral
The towering 170 to 190-year-old beech trees, with their smooth silver-grey trunks, create the feeling of walking through the nave of a magnificent Gothic cathedral. Their sheer size inspires awe and reminds every visitor of the grandeur of the natural world.

Before You Visit
The reserve is managed by Zalaerdő Ltd. and is freely accessible to visitors. However, it is important to remember that this is a genuine natural forest, not a landscaped park. Instead of paved walkways, you’ll find authentic woodland trails that allow you to experience nature in its purest form.
Important Safety Information
Because the forest is left completely undisturbed, visiting during storms or strong winds is extremely dangerous and strictly prohibited due to the risk of falling trees and branches.
