An Extensive Railway Network
With nearly 110 kilometres of railway lines, the Csömödér Forest Railway is the largest forest railway network in Hungary. More than 30 kilometres of scheduled passenger services operate between Lenti and Kistolmács, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of the region at a relaxed pace.
Ábel – The Steam Locomotive
On special occasions, railway enthusiasts can enjoy a truly nostalgic experience as Ábel, the historic steam locomotive, pulls the train through the forests, recreating the atmosphere of a bygone era.
A Close Encounter with Nature
The railway passes through untouched woodland where passengers often have the opportunity to spot red deer, roe deer, black storks, and many other native species in their natural habitat.
Cyclist- and Dog-Friendly
Special railway carriages are available for transporting bicycles, making the journey an ideal addition to a cycling adventure through the beautiful landscapes of Zala. Dogs are also welcome on board, making the railway a perfect outing for the whole family.
