This cycling route takes you to one of the most fascinating corners of Southern Zala, where the untamed landscapes of the Kerka<\/strong> and Mura<\/strong> rivers blend seamlessly with the rich history of the Muravid\u00e9k (Prekmurje) region.<\/p>\n

Starting from the waterside village of Muraszemenye<\/strong>, you’ll ride through welcoming rural communities and pristine floodplain forests before crossing into Slovenia<\/strong> and reaching the historic town of Lendava<\/strong>. More than just a cycling tour, this journey is about discovery\u2014along the way you’ll encounter historic military bunkers, remarkable churches and, finally, a magnificent hilltop castle.<\/p>\n

Muraszemenye \u2013 The Realm of Rivers<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Your adventure begins in Muraszemenye<\/strong>, often called the “Land of the Beavers.” Before setting off, it’s worth making a short detour to the nearby oxbow lakes, where the untouched wilderness of the Mura\u2013Drava\u2013Danube UNESCO Biosphere Reserve<\/strong> offers a glimpse into one of Europe’s most valuable river ecosystems.<\/p>\n

From here, the route follows the Kerka River upstream towards the northwest.<\/p>\n

Kerkaszentkir\u00e1ly and Dobri \u2013 Peace Along the River<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Following the Kerka, you arrive in Kerkaszentkir\u00e1ly<\/strong>, where it’s worth stopping at the rafting base or the local nature trail.<\/p>\n

The peaceful riverside setting and the distinctive Nine-Arch Concrete Bridge<\/strong> create a nostalgic atmosphere. Continuing towards Dobri<\/strong>, you’ll cycle through the gentle meadows and lush green landscapes of the Kerka Valley.<\/p>\n

Tornyiszentmikl\u00f3s \u2013 The Last Stop Before the Border<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Before crossing into Slovenia, take time to visit the beautiful St. Nicholas Church<\/strong>, an elegant Baroque landmark in Tornyiszentmikl\u00f3s<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On the edge of the village you’ll also find a fishing lake and a pleasant picnic area\u2014the perfect place for one final break before continuing your journey abroad.<\/p>\n

After crossing the border via the village of Pince<\/strong>, you’ll arrive in the charming Slovenian town of Lendava<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Dominating the skyline is Lendava Castle<\/strong>, home to fascinating historical exhibitions and contemporary art displays. The castle terrace rewards visitors with breathtaking panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.<\/p>\n
